Sports Libre and Saloon Libre Classes for 2012
We will be making some changes to the Sports Libre classes in the Supplementary Regulations for the 2012 Midland Speed Championship.
The capacity splits for Sports Libre will be aligned with the capacity splits in Roadgoing and Modified Production Cars at 1400cc and 2000cc.
We are aware that there are a lot of cars around, for example former rally cars, which are basically modified production cars but are ineligible for the ModProd classes because they are fitted with different engine to the original. Under the present regulations, these cars have to run in Sports Libre against purpose-built track cars. As an experiment to gauge the level of interest, we will be running classes for Sports Libre Saloon Cars in the 2012 season.
We have decided on a set of regulations which we hope will permit as many drivers as possible to have a competitive season in their various cars. During the 2012 season we will be happy to receive any comments or suggestions on the Saloon Libre regulations with a view to improving them for the 2013 season.
The regulations for the 2012 Saloon Libre classes are:
Class 4D: Sports Libre Saloon Cars up to 1400cc.
Class 4E: Sports Libre Saloon Cars over 1400cc up to 2000cc.
Class 4F: Sports Libre Saloon Cars over 2000cc.
Cars running in classes 4D, 4E amd 4F must conform to the regulations for Sports Libre cars defined in the 2012 MSA Technical Regulations S14. Saloon cars must also comply with S12.1, 12.4.1, 12.4.4, 12.5.1 to 12.5.8 and 12.5.10 to 12.5.13.
